Hi,
I would like to ask for rent allowance. I've heard that if I will request for it, somebody from Social Welfare Services Office will come to check my house?

Is it truth that the assigned amount of rent allowance depend on your property - I mean TV, DVD player, notebook atc....?

Do you mean Rent Supplement ?

If you make an application for Rent Supplement (which you can do if you're on a Social Welfare Payment), the Community Welfare Officer who deals with the claim will visit you. This is to confirm that you live at the stated address. They're not checking for TVs, etc.

There are maximum rent limits which are based on family size (how many people you're claiming Rent Supplement for), whether you're sharing accommodation or not (renting a room in a house for example), and the county you live in.

Contact the Community Welfare Officer at your local health centre for more information and an application form.
