Rent Allowance: 1 JB, 1 Student

My husband is currently unemployed and is trying to get rent allowance. I just started college and all the money we have at the moment is my student grant and his Jobseekers benefits. The rent is 1000 euro per month and my monthly stipend is 1300 euro. I checked on the SW website and it doesnt say clear what I can be entitled to. And most probably we won't get anything. Where can I get detailed information?

You will get more information (plus application forms) from the Community Welfare Officer in your local health centre.

You cannot apply for Rent Supplement because you are a student, however your husband can as he's unemployed. Your student grant will be assessed as income.

There are maximum rent limits applied, and Rent Supplement cannot be paid if the rent charged by the landlord exceeds the appropriate limit for family size & county.
