Just 2 quick q.s

1. Do I have to register for the Residential Tenancies thingy if I'm doing the rent a room scheme and if so how do I do this? Is there a contract required with a "tenant"?

2. What have I got to do to get mortgage interest relief kicking in -am a somewhat unknowing first time buyer.

No.

Ask your bank, or visit ww.revenue.ie, or give them a call.

You need to give your PPS number to the bank so they can apply the tax relief at source. It won't be done until you give them the number
