Hi
We have planning permission for a one-off house. The house is in a "period" style and we are considering the render options. To achieve an old style finish, it appears that the options are:
a. a lime render or
b. a monocouche system
Some of the monocouche systems appear to be problematic, from the point of view of mould and discolouration. In particular, some of threads on k-rend appear to be fairly negative. Application of lime render appears to be fairly specialised - also, where it is a breathable products, I wonder whether it is an ideal product for plastering over portland cement blocks which are not inherently breathable?
Does anyone have any recommendations as to how best achieve this type of finish? I read somewhere that mixing ecocem with portland cement will give a smoother finish? Has anyone tried this - how did it work - does it make much difference?
Thanks
Cork Boy
