Remote Eire

Hi all,

I'm an Irish citizen and currently live and work in Ireland. I have been offered a fantastic opportunity to work remotely with a US based company.

I would need to travel to their office in America twice/three times a year for meetings etc. but the rest of the time I will base myself in Ireland.

Can anyone advise me on how to handle this situation tax-wise, as a company who do not have an Irish base and do not operate in Ireland is the easiest solution to be paid as a "contractor" and handle my own tax returns?

Thanks in advance.

They do have an operation and base in Ireland - you. They will need to register as an employer in Ireland and deduct payroll taxes as normal. This is a fairly simple process and all info is on the revenue website. Its normal for companies to use a payroll provider to look after this for them.

Thanks oscarp appreciate the help - I've been onto revenue and they have pointed me in the right direction.
