Remortgaging - Just ask you bank for a better deal

I have my mortgage with BOI. I own my house 6 years and have just come off a fixed rate mortgage. I got a letter staying that I was been moved to variable of 3.6%. I rang the bank and asked to be moved onto the tracker rate of 3.1% eventhough I didn't qualify as I owe less than 200K. I didn't even have to threaten to remortgage with another bank.

5 days later it was all sorted and now am on 3.1%.

Way to go Jimmy .......!! just show how competition is good for the consumer ......
