Remortgage for house extension

Is it possibly to remortgage a house for renovations/extension if the mortgage is already paid off? what are the costs associated with this? are there solicitor costs? or do you just deal with the bank.

Same as taking out a brand new mortgage which you are effectively doing. Solicitor needed etc same as new mortgage, only difference being the deeds are already in your name.
