Relaying Cobblelock driveway

My driveway and part of the front garden is laid with cobble lock. I want to extend this so it covers almost all of the front garden, leaving a small planting area.

I hate the idea of just throwing out the existing cobble lock, I'd like to have it reused. Naturally it's faded over the years and I know that the new cobbles won't match.

So ... any ideas?

Mix in with new block of a similar colour?
Mix in with new block of a totally different colour?
Mix with lighter colour & stain everything? (can that be done?)

I'd go for that option, see if a nice design can be created, with the introduction of the new colour.

Are the existing blocks all the same colour or is there already a pattern? New blocks could be used to form a border with all the central area all covered with the older ones, or as suggested above a pattern throughout the whole area.
