Hi

Been getting a few cold calls re opportunity to invest in U.S. shares
Am being advised that this is a 'regulation F' (?) offer - meaning it is open to non US residents only. All sounds a bit suspect.

Anyone know anything about this?

I have heard of regulation S shares which US residents aren't allowed to hold but not regulation F. The fact that it is Cold calling says it all really. They could exist though. I don't know the SEC regulations that well!

"F" and "S" sound very similar on the phone . . . the OP probably misheard

Probably. Just be aware that Regulation S shares of dodgy American companies are nearly always used by scam merchants. Just because they are 'Regulation S' doesn't make them any safer, better etc. As

This is a boiler house scam.
Do not touch it with a barge pole. I can post links to warning sites if you need them.
Stockbrokers do not cold call.

OK thanks - thought it all seemed very iffy. Was not a stock broker cold call as such by the way, more a company 'representative' calling to pave the way for another call from a 'financial specialist'

Don't think I'll be taking them up though...

Even if it was a "stockbroker" calling it would still be dodgy to be cold called about stocks or most other investments.

I know of a company called Pacific Continental that operate this way and I know of someone who has lost a lot of money dealing with them.
They cold call like this to set you up for a representative to talk to you later.
