My spouse started a very small business last year, and registered for Ros mid year. Earlier in the year we had uploaded some receipts to revenue for medical expenses. I went to do our usual tax return this year, however I was not able to access the statement of liability. We requested revenue allowance is to use the usual system, but they are saying we have to go through Ros. The profit from the business and was 2.5k. half of the m ducal receipts are on the old system. Advice on how to proceed

Log into ROS and fill out all the details of the business and your medical expenses. The form 11 will calculate the correct tax liability.

Hi OP, Once you have registered for income tax and set up a Revenue Online Service account, Revenue will treat you as someone who needs to file a Form 11 each year, no matter how much profit the business makes. You then have two options. First, you can still file the Form 11 even if your profit is less than €5,000 in addition to your PAYE income. At the start of the Form 11, there is a tick box to confirm that you are below the thresholds but still want to file. If you tick that, you can go ahead and use the Form 11. Alternatively, you can backdate your deregistration for income tax to the same date you first registered. This should show that you were not actually registered for income tax from that date, and then you should be able to proceed with a form 12/payx tax return without having to file a Form 11.
