Hi,

We went through a letting agent to find a tennent for our first time letting, we were nervious about the whole renting game so we went with an estate agent to vet the tennent, we signed a 1yr lease but the tennent done a runner after 3 months, my question is are we entitled to any refund from the letting agent we paid them over €800 to find and vet the tennent nad lease the house for 1 year, any advice appreciated.

Thanks

the estate agent only finds and vets the tennant, but the contract is signed between you and the tennant so how would it be the agents responsability. that said the agent should really find you another tennant for free!

Sorry if I seem a bit pedantic, but there are too many 'mistakes' in the above posts to ignore:

tenant - not tennant or tennent
nervous - not nervious
responsibility - not responsability
And your tenant did a runner, not done one!

In my experience agents will refuse to pay for a tenants decision to break a lease and a landlord will keep the deposit as damages. Although you would imagine that if the agent wants to keep the business they would agree some compromise
