Redundancy & Maternity Benefit

Hi, in 6 weeks time my job position will no longer exist but the company will exist. I am 21 weeks pregnant and unsure if they will offer me a voluntary redundancy package. If they did offer it I would accept it (previous packages have been good and I have the required service). My only concern is that if i take the package (assuming it's offered) then I will not be able to avail of my maternity benefit (the company pays full wages when on maternity leave). If however I have given notice of the date I intend going on maternity leave, can the voluntary package be postponed until I am due to return from maternity leave? Is it better to go on maternity leave ASAP so that if a package is offered I am protected until the end of my leave when I can then take it?

Any feedback appreciated :)
