I've just had a good experience with AIB.
My outstanding mortgage is just below 50k and it was on a the standard variable rate of 3.3%. Inspired by similar reports on AAM I sent AIB a letter asking to be converted to their home owner 2.99% tracker LTV < 60%.
They reduced it without any quibbles.
Perhaps I was a sucker for not doing this earlier but I suspect there's lots of people out there like me that had thought about doing it before but never actually did it. For a 48c stamp I'm saving about €10 a month.
