My Brother MFC 5890 cn printer /photocopier/scanner has given up the ghost.
I would like to replace it with something similar if not too expensive.
I particularly liked this model as found it not too hard on the ink and the ink not too pricey.
I only want it for family use but am regularly printing /photocoping rtb registration forms and leases etc.
Any recommendations for something you have that has served you well would be appreciated

Agree with Dermot. EPSON Eco Tank ET-2860 every day of the week. Got one as a present last year for my office and liked it so much I bought another one for household use a couple of weeks ago.

Have one, filled it with ink about 3 years ago and hasn't needed a refill. Incredibly economical.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the Epson is winning out here.
I am not very tech minded but presume this would also photocopy

Samsung laser printer gets my vote; wifi enabled allows me to print from phone.

If I need a copy of anything, photo on phone & print.

I do however have an excellent camera on the phone.

Anything but HP. They now lock their printers with firmware which prohibits the use of non-HP ink cartridges. I would never reward that kind of behaviour with my money.

It's not only HP accused of that allegation.

I soldier on with HP... cheap machine but they make their profit on the ink cardridges. I get old cartridges refilled so cheaper to run and happen to have a Cartridgeworld place within walking distance. For bigger jobs I email them and am happy to pay for decent print job at so much a page.

Yes Wi/Fi capable and can photocopy
I have an Epson printer like this that i bought about 3 years ago.

It works fine and the ink refilling system is brilliant but I found it impossible to connect to using wi-fi and eventually gave up.

Would be interested to hear of other people’s experiences.

Also check to see if your router is broadcasting on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. Many devices still only see 2.4Ghz.

Epson Printers

I have been following this thread as I need to get a new printer. This link is handy as it brings you direct to the shops in Ireland. Also researching Laser printers best-laser-printer and best-cheap-printers. Hopefully it will stay up to date as the months pass. Thank you all for the recommendations. I once had to get an application printer x 2 (about 20 pages). The person asked - "what kind of paper". I said "the best I suppose". €47:) As I was in the disaster of an interview, I had to smile as the interviewers were flicking through €20 worth of paper each.
