Hi Snowyb
Wondering what you think husband (40) wife (38) 7 yr old 5yr old and 6 week old.
Have vhi one plan starter due for renewal end of June cost for this year was 530+530+202+202 =1466

Because of new arrival and increase renewal cost is 547+547+208+208+208=1722

I know cover is pretty basic but we don't want to give up ins.

Any advice greatly appreciated

roncondon,

There are a couple of cheaper alternative options worth considering as follows;

1. Laya Assure Protect; adult price 419pa; child price 110pa; public hospital cover only(same as One Plan Starter).

Total family cost; 419 + 419 + 110 + 110 + 110 = 1168pa
Note; Laya apply a 3% charge if you pay by installments, 1168 + 33(+3%) = 1201.

2. Aviva Select Starter; adult price 425pa; child price 100pa; 33 public hospitals covered, 24 public hospitals NOT covered. ( You would need to
check this list of hospitals to ensure it suits. All the Dublin children's hospitals are covered.

Total family cost; 425 + 425 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 1150

NOTE; Both Laya and Aviva allow customers to change to another plan with the same company during the year, so if any special offers occur mid-year you can avail of them. For example, Laya had a childrens special offer earlier this year, whereby you paid for 1 child(230) and the rest of the kids were free.

As a third option, if you wanted to upgrade one or two adults, Laya Flex 500 Explore is available, price 661pa. This plan includes public, private and hi-tech hospital cover. Its something to keep in mind for maybe a later stage.

All the above plans will increase in price from 1 July 2016 so you will avoid these price increases as you're renewal date is at end of June.
