hi, i am thinking of getting my boyfriend a new phone for his birthday. He currently has the Sony Ericsson W810i. He is with meteor. So any phone would have to be available on meteor or unlocked on ebay or somewhere.

He mainly uses it for txting but he is kinda big into technology and would want something good.

Has anyone any suggestions??!!!

Thanks :)

Is he bill pay or pay as you go?

If bill pay the Samsung G600 is nice, or the Sony K850i should be out soon.

If pay as you go there is not much in the Meteor range better than the W810i so it would have to be sim free.

www.zzzphone.com read about this on a new innovations site was thinking of customizing one myself . Has had good reviews. NEVER USED THEM OR NOT AFFILIATED.

As others have said, the W810i is (still) one of the better phones on the market. To get something "better" (and whether it will/would be better is subjective) you'll be spending a lot of money for a small improvement.

If he's into his gadgets the money might be better spent elsewhere where he'll get more benefit (e.g. he already has a very good phone) from the purchase.

he is on pre pay at the moment but i am on bill and due an upgrade in may. buying it sim free isnt a problem, could get it on ebay. was just wondering if anyone could suggest one!!!

that zzzphone looks interesting, wonder if its any good, might try research that

N95 is probably the most feature phone out there at the moment. iPhone is another option. Cool but poor feature set.

Have done some research on the N82 and it looks the [SIZE=-1]

If you're big into music the Nokia 5310 is the biz. It's slimline, has big memory, big screen and brilliant sound.

Yes Crunchie, I've heard that. I've mine on for most of the day and plug it in every 48 hours or so. That's what you get for a slimline battery. But then the sound is exceptional. Sooooo, it balances out.

i phone just about to arrive in o2 stores soon, but you would need to switch to o2 ,apparently no problem.

thanks for all the replies, e65 does look good, i was actually looking at that one. its a nice phone.

iphone also looks good but changing to 02 isnt an option and the price plans they are selling it on defo isnt an option.

ive had another look on ebay, some nice phones there. mainly selling from england which means we prob wont ever get them over here but are all unlocked

Have a look at www.carphonewarehouse.co.uk

They sell nearly all their phones unlocked and unbranded. You usually have to buy a SIM for one of the UK networks with £10 credit on it but you don't have to use it if you don't want.

They have a shop in the Quays shopping centre in Newry and with the exchange rate so good you might get a good deal. Just ring first to make sure they have what you want before you make the trip.
