I have been trying to reclaim tax from 2002 for the last few years
I was working as a paye employee in 2 jobs and did not get the benefit of my tax free allowance.
I have been writing to the tax office since 2004 and had been calling them for a good bit before this -
Anyway to cut a long story short My last contact from them was in October
I wrote back in november giving all the info requested but haven't got any response as of yet
I have been trying to call them since but havent got through They closed the lines in December to allow them to deal with a backlog..
Tried today again and couldnt get through.
My query : Will I still be able to follow through on my claim for 2002 even though it is now gone past the deadline for claiming this tax back ?
Or am I going to be told that I have lost it ?

Have you kept copies of correspondance e.g. letters, emails etc. I would imagine you are OK as long as they haven't lost your file but if they have you should be able to produce documents to prove you have started the query by having some copies as above. If there was quite a lot of money involved you should try seeking professional advice.
