RCA Plug & Speaker wires

I'm looking to use a speaker selector switch to control which room my amp sends music to. What I would like to know is -

Can you wire an RCA plug onto the end of a standard two core speaker cable?

And if so - How?

I would like to use a switch I have seen that uses RCA connectors rather than the traditional clip type connectors as I think it will be a bit tidier and more reliable.

Yes, you can use RCA (sometimes called phono) plugs. You can buy them in places like [broken link removed] or Peats, along with any other accessories you need.
