RAM and DIMM slots

Hi, I wish to upgrade the RAM on my Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P PC.

http://www.crucial.com offers two methods of determining what RAM is suitable for my PC.

The Scanner tool method tells me that my system supports ECC but warns me
"You can put non-ECC modules into an ECC system, but be sure not to mix ECC and non-ECC modules within a system. Install the same type of modules that are already in your system."

OK, so my system supports ECC but how can I be sure that I won't end up mixing ECC and non-ECC modules? How do I determine what type of modules are already in my system?

The other method is the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool, the third step of which asks me to specify what model I am using. I am faced with four choices:
Scaleo P (2 DIMM sockets); Scaleo P (3 DIMM sockets); Scaleo P (4 DIMM sockets); or Scaleo P (DDR2).
How do I determine which choice is the correct one?

Thanks for your help.

Very unlightly it is ECC (error correcting) memory, as this is more expensive and these days mainly used in file servers etc.

The Crucial Memory Advisor Tool wants you to physically look at the mother board and count the number of memory sockets 2, 3 or 4 and by the sounds of it also select the type DDR or DDR2. Google will show pictures of the two types. In other words Fujitsu/Siemens used lots of different motherboard over the life of model. It would be better if you open the PC, count the number of memory sockets, count the number which currently have modules in them (you may have to chuck out the old memory) and take a note of the motherboard maker and model number. Then look up the motherboard on Crucials site.

type in you model number in memoryc.ie and they give you a list of modules they gaurentee will work for you, hope that helps
