Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has come across these or used them ? (http://www.radiatorbooster.co.uk/index.html)

Mentioned in a supplement to the Irish Examiner last week. Seem like a good idea - like the Solo Rad. Problem is they run separately to the boiler so if they get out of sync then not much use !! and I'm sure this could happen easily if you have a few.

Never heard of them, wonder how much they are?

If they are reasonably priced and are cheap to run then they are probably worth a shot. They just speed up the laws of physics.
 
14.99 Sterling from Amazon.co.uk and a few other UK suppliers (not including shipping). Same price on the Maplin UK web site, and this might suprise you (Not !) but 25 euro when I rang Maplin in galway.

Can you confirm if you have any association with the link provided?
 
You can speed up natural convection with a fan, sure - but you're using energy to do this. And forcing your radiator to work harder, to boot. I doubt seriously if there will be any net gain by using such a device.

I can see some rooms in my house that would benefit from this...

my living room rad is behind my couch...just happens to be that way so the heat can get lost behind it...one of these would help to push the hot air up over the couch into the room. Great idea

next time I'm up north, I think I'll swing by Maplin and get one
 
Yes - noise would be my concern also.

Decided to buy 2 on Amazon but noticed only available for delivery in the UK. Same for a Stud Finder I was going to purchase.

Does this just apply to electrical products ? What is the reasoning ?

How much electricity does it use, and is it safety approved?
The Radiator BOOster™ has been tested and approved by an independent laboratory, and conforms to all aspects of CE Certification. Each fan is rated at < 1.0 watt, 12v DC, and each unit is supplied complete with a full set of instructions. Should you operate a Radiator BOOster™ for 500 hours, is should use approximately 1kW of electricity (less than 10p for most homes).

not much electricity used though, and 'forcing your radiator to work harder' is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. The rad will only do what it's supposed to do, no more.
 
one unsatisfied review on amazon..... "I bought this on the strength of the product description. It's just about the flimsiest and shoddiest item I've ever bought and has now been consigned to the rubbish bin. I lost £17 (including postage) and have learned a lesson. It's badly made, cheaply produced and doesn't do what it says it will. Mine began falling apart on day 2. Steer clear of this rubbish."
