Questions re. kitchen redesign

Hi there,

We're moving into a new (second hand) house and I have a few questions about getting a new kitchen / improving on existing.
Firstly, we are not great on the DIY front so would be relying on professional fitting etc.
Budget is approx 7,000 (including everything except appliances) and if we can't manage decent in that budget we will probably just wait a few years. Our preference is for integrated appliances but we're happy to drop this if budget doesn't stretch, and generally don't need anything fancy apart from something that'll last (is 15 years a reasonable expectation?)

(1) The existing cabinets are decent quality but poorly painted already and not laid out to our taste/needs. A lot of people recommend just getting the cabinets re-painted, but I was wondering if this is an option if we want to change the layout? Will moving the cabinets damage the carcasses / be impossible logistically to configure into a new shape? Going from a straight line to a U shape most likely.

(2) The kitchen / dining room is long and relatively narrow with a window and patio door at one end, and the internal door at the other end. The sink/dishwasher/cooker/washing machine are all located down at the window/door end. I'd like to move the main kitchen down to the internal end of the long room so the dining part has more light. The appliances would still be against an external wall. My questions about this are:
(a) How much does moving the sink / cooker / dishwasher (plumbing, gas) add to cost / difficult? We'd most likely be just moving them down the same external wall they are already on?
(b) Is it essential that these remain on an external wall? How costly is it to put e.g. sink / dishwasher on an internal wall?
(c) The external wall actually faces into our neighbour's garden. Would we need to get access from outside, i.e. through their gardens?

(3) If we decided to leave the kitchen as is, but replaced the floors, would we end up ruining the floors when getting a new kitchen in down the line?

(4) If we went to somewhere like Cash and Carry, would their fitters also provide plumbing / gas specialists or would we need to deal with these separately?

(5) Is there good value in getting something custom made by a carpenter, or is that only for high end? We're in the Cork area, if people have any recommendations.

Thanks!

Spend as much as u can even if u have to stretch or wait. If u get it right it will last forever. Highly recommend drawer units for undercounter and a tall press with pull out drawers at that level and shelves above.
