CB are on record saying they put stability ahead of consumer protection..it really begs the question if this had not gone to court (consumer winning too) would they have let it slide
Financial stability is the ultimate consumer protection. They are right to prioritise it, but a balance has to be struck. I don't understand the Central Bank's inaction in this case. I doubt if they are claiming financial stability. I assume it's just their general incompetence.
