Ryan Tubridy is being interviewed on RTÉ radio one… This is my GUBU moment.

In Irish public life, can anybody do anything and get away with it? How is it palatable for RTE to have such a person on and how do they think the listing public will find it acceptable?

Similar applies to disgraced politicians such as BA who is now wheeled out at every opportunity to comment on Northern Ireland or whatever else RTE deems them a suitable authority on.

And what about these people themselves? Have they no shame? Talk about being brazen.

Ryan Tubridy? Why shouldn't he be interviewed?
RTE have interviewed convicted terrorists and killers who are or were politicians, who have done far worse than anything Bertie Ahern did, let alone Tubridy who is guilty of nothing more than going along with what his employer asked him to do.

It's an unusual set of circumstances - Jeffrey Archer passed away on the day he was due to launch his last book, and Tubridy was going to be the host/presenter of that event in London.
So I can see why RTE would interview him.

I would take a dimmer view if they were bringing him back into the fold of RTE staff, and that includes Lyric... let him sink or swim on his own talents in the private sector.

Tubridy took a lot of flak for RTE's bad governance.

I really don't know how high the moral standard should be for a fella whose job was primarily fawning over B-list celebrities, making awkward jokes with a child in a wheelchair, and giving some lucky duck a Ford Fiesta and tickets to Electric Picnic. He didn't drive without insurance or run a meth lab.

Tubridy is an absolutely atrocious presenter who sets my teeth on edge, but a lot of people find him engaging and entertaining, so surely it's reasonable at this stage for him to re-emerge.

Was never a listener of Tubs however felt he was much more sinned against than sinning.

He took it on the chin and made good Renault money iirc, personally found the way he was treated to have been very poor form but don't want to get into a back and forward argument on it. Agree to differ on this.

Was interesting listening to him yesterday given Jeffrey Archers sudden death.
