I am administering my father's estate personally without a solicitor. Straightfoward will - all assets left to my brother and I ie house and savings. The revenue affidavit asks for a sworn declaration witnessed by a solicitor/court clerk/commissioner for oaths. This witness will also state that they know me. As I don't personally know any solicitor etc how do I get this sorted and what kind of charge can I expect. Also I have the original will but various institutions ask for a certified copy. How do I provide this? Thanks for any help you can offer.

A solicitor/commissioner for oath will certify your copies/declaration as long as you can give them proof of identify - passport, etc etc and probably proof of address.

There will be a small charge - ask upfront and clarify if it is by document or for all documents.
