Just want somebody to confirm that the following assumption is correct.....
I have been in permanent employment throughout 2009...
I have made 8 monthly contributions to my PRSA in 2009. However I still have scope to make a further a lump sum contribution.
Is there any issue in claiming tax relief @ 41% on this lump sum contribution provided I stay within the relevant threshold ie ensuring that my total contribution for 2009 is less than or equal to my income exceeding the standard rate cut-off point of €36400?
As I pay class A1 PRSI can I also claim relief on the PRSI I have paid? ie giving me net relief of 49%?
All advice appreciated
Thanks in advance:)

You have till 31st Oct 2010 to make a lump sum contributions

As I pay class A1 PRSI can I also claim relief on the PRSI I have paid? ie giving me net relief of 49%?

The PRSI element is made up in two parts PRSI of 4% up to 75,000 and 4% health levy

If your salary is over 75,000 and the lump sum reduces your salary to less than 75,000 you can only reclaim the difference from 75,000 to the amended lump sum. (Hope this makes sense)

You can reclaim the full heath levy
