Hi there,

if I look at the IFSRA website on the protection scheme I can see the following sentence near "NIB":
In addition, National Irish Bank's parent, Danske, is now covered by a Danish Government Guarantee Scheme. National Irish Bank deposit customers are 100% covered by the Danish Government Guarantee Scheme for the next two years.

...Why for the next 2 years? Does it mean that after the Danish bank is going to leave the Danish Government Guarantee?

Thank you

That's the current time limit of the Danish Governments Guarantee, I think all Governments have a time limit on their guarantees.

Does it mean that after the Danish bank is going to leave the Danish Government Guarantee?

As things currently stand, the Danish Government Guarantee expires in September 2010. The Irish Deposit Protection Scheme would be the only protection offered to NIB savers after that date.
