My mother passed away in 1996 and left the family home to my two sisters, my brother and myself. There was a clause in the Will which stated that I could live live in the house until I died or married. I am currently living in the family home but the house in still in my mother's name.

Is this going to cause me problems?
Your help is appreciated.

You own a quarter share in the house and you have a Right of Residence. The title is still in your late mothers name. It makes no difference.

"Is this going to cause me problems?"

It is not clear what you are referring to. Are you talking about feeling secure? Or the house being sold? or being asked to leave the house?

Thank you mf.
Should I put the house in the four names and include the statement that I have a right of residence or should I just leave it in my mother's name for now even though she died in 1996. In other words can a house be in the name of a person who is deceased.

Thanks
