Hi All,

Is it possible to take off the laser card facility from one card user, or cancel the other card user altogether on a joint account.

Would you have the permission of the cardholder in question? Because you might need that.

To cancel both holders will need to know, you can't just cancel the other person's card without them knowing...HOWEVER...you can cancel the signing instruction on the account to make it both to sign....effectively freezing the account and automatically cancelling BOTH Laser Cards. Its known as "revoking the mandate".

Drastic action though and the other party will (obviously) be advised by the Bank.

Cards are independent of the account, in that it is possible to have a joint account without any card(s).

It is possible to get one card cancelled and leave the joint account unaffected. It may also be possible to get one card replaced from supporting Laser, to one supporting just ATM withdrawals. That may depend on your bank.

If the account is repayable to either, it is possible to get it changed so that both signatures are required on withdrawals, but that could preclude any card being active on the account.
