Just wondering if anyone has dealt with weatherglaze in gorey or royal windows (santry) with regards to PVC doors and how did they find them.I have checked previous threads and saw recommendations for artic doors but they are outside of my budget (2k) unfortunately.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
 
Another Wexford option you could check out are Muloney windows in Adamstown Wexford. I have no connection other then being a self builder in the middle of compiling window quotes. They have come in at a v competitive price.

Yikes to Artic doors E2k. Was considering using them for our very awkward unusual front door.
 
You are not comparing like with like when you compare Artic Doors with uPVC. "Artic" type doors are a composite door and achieve a better u-value than uPVC. If you are looking for an energy rating for your house then Composite doors out perforn Timber and uPVC by a long way.
 
Actually artic were 3k for a door less fitting- 2k is my budget,fitted.However you are right, they were composite rather than PVC and better quality & insulation etc - no argument there.I was'nt comparing them like for like - just said they were out of my budget.
I have seen a couple of negative comments on other boards re: weatherglaze's customer service so thats why I was wondering if anyone else had dealt with them.

Have you tried Senator Windows ? I think their factory is down in Wexford. I put in Senator Windows and Doors about 6 years ago and I have had no problems to date and the quality is excellent.

Currently having an installation done by Weatherglaze, I will post feedback on them when completed.
 
Senator windows has dropped price for sentry doors this year.
Tip: try Navan ofice, can be surprised on a price difference from Dublin...
 
we got a quote from a company called Evergreen during the week for a Fibreglass door. They had advertised in the local paper in Limerick. We mainly want it for heat insulation and to eliminate drafts.
The quote to replace a door was 12-1400.
The guy selling was a local rep but the company have a website and are based in the north.

We have just gotten a quote so haven't even seen a door yet but the quote is better than others I have seen here.
 
Are those fibre glass doors the same thing as the 'composite' doors?
If so that quote seems suspiciously cheap - Senator,Weatherglaze and Fairco all came in over the 4k mark for a composite door with 2 side panels
supplied & fitted...
 
Just looking at the leaflet dropped in the door and it says Composite Fibreglass doors.
Now our quote was simply for the door no side panels are needed.

Will let you know if we get any more info on them.
 
I've also just looked at a webpage of Grady joinery - they have composite fibreglass doors. Would really like one of those, but artic/wheatherglaze came in with a quote of >3K for a simple door plus installation (no sidepanels or anything), so I almost fell over. So am looking into different companies now. Any more info on evergreendoors?

Went for a composite door so had to up the budget.They do look much nicer and I will be looking at it for a long time....
In the end went with Fairco, who because of the 25% sale came in with the best price for a composite (Apeer) door with side panels fitted for 3k.
The price of the door only was around 2 - 2.2k I think depending on whether you were getting plain or fancy glass insets.

When I rang Artics dublin distributor for a quote, the same style of composite door with panels was 4.3k.I don't know if there is a 1.3k difference in quality between them and Apeer??
I tried to contact Evergreen but they were all on holidays when I rang so decided to go with Fairco, just because I don't know anything about the other guys and I wanted to see the actual door before buying.
The door has'nt been installed yet so will update when complete.
 
Many thanks for the info, and please do keep me up to date on the Fairco door! I also have my mind set on a composite door, so I went on an internet search yesterday and identified 11 companies in Ireland (including Fairco and some are from the north) that produce composite doors. I've sent them all my measurements and see what I get back....

Did you ever get the door fitted? I'm still looking around and got a good few quotes ranging from 1600 to 3400....
 
Yep , got the door fitted there on Fri.Delighted with it - they did a really good job fitting it and it took about half a day.It was also fitted within the 4 weeks that they said.All in all a happy customer.
The door itself looks great - glad now we went for the composite.
