public sector contracts

How long does one normally have to wait for payment from a public sector contract? and is it normal to ask for a deposit up front?

I assume that you are referring to the New Public Works Contracts relating to Public Procurement of Building or Civil Engineering Works. If you are, the following applies:
a/ You can only apply for payment following a certain period of time, i.e usually at the end of the month, and only when the minimum certificate value has been surpassed. Payment usually 1 month thereafter. b/ You cannot charge a deposit.
