As of 11 March 2026 but still only 2.00% up to 75,000€

You can now save up to €2,500 a month in your Regular Saver Account

We’re making some changes to our Regular Saver Accounts, including our Online Regular Saver, 21 Day Notice Regular Saver and PayDay Saver Accounts, to make saving easier. From 11 March 2026, you will be able to lodge more each month into these Regular Saver Accounts and the balance you can hold in your savings account, while still benefitting from the 2.00% variable interest rate, will also increase.

Maximum lodgement: How much will you be able to save each month?

The maximum monthly lodgement amount on the Online Regular Saver, 21 Day Notice Regular Saver and PayDay Saver accounts, will increase from €1,000.00 to €2,500.00 from the 11 March 2026, helping you reach your savings goals sooner.

Maximum balance: How much will you be able to hold in your savings account?

Our Regular Saver Accounts use tiered interest rates, this means the amount of interest you earn depends on how much money you have in the account. From 11 March the maximum amount you can hold in your account while still earning the higher interest rate will increase from €50,000 to €75,000.00, so you can earn more interest as your savings grow over time.

The updated account balance and Annual Equivalent Rate (AER)/Gross interest rates applicable for the Online Regular Saver, 21 Day Notice Regular Saver and PaySaver account(s) are as follows:

Account Balance

AER / Gross interest rate

€0.00 - €75,000.00 2.00%

€75,000.01+ 0.01%

Important: If the account balance goes over €75,000.00, the lower AER/Gross interest rate will apply to the full balance.
To earn the higher rate, you should keep your balance below this amount.

Good to see the increase the limit but you would still be better off just sending the money to a MoCo account with a slightly better rate and no limits. If you have that maxed out or you just trust PTSB more than MoCo then this is an option.

I assume it applies to existing accounts and not just new accounts opened after March 11th?

Good to see the increase in the monthly contributions and the increase in the main tier.

PTSB have the best regular saver product in terms of highest amount for the main tier and in terms of rate duration - the rate does not 'expire' after 1 year unlike AIB and BoI and EBS similar products. But 2% is well below what AIB, BoI and EBS offer. And obviously as above it is much simpler to just put your lump sum money in Trading212 or MoCo or similar and get paid more rather than drip feeding into a PTSB 2% regular saver.

If you don't have an existing lump sum but are planning on starting saving monthly henceforth it's a good rate imo

If you don't have an existing lump sum then MoCo would still be better. The rate is a little bit better, there is no monthly limit and it is up to 100k instead of 70k. However, people might feel PTSB is safer than MoCo and compared to other regular savers from established Irish banks it is better.
