PS3 wont work

Hi - my sons have a PS3 -were playing away fine up until yesterday, they were at another house and plugged the PS3 into the tv. It was a HD TV and used some HD lead... (I'm not up to speed with all this)... anyway they played away fine - were online, downloaded updates etc. Brought PS3 home and now wont work on old TV - nothing is coming up on screen - no logo, nothing -
Would anyone know if the console needs to be reset - had the HD something to do with it... any help would be greatly appreciated
