PRSI on Share Dividends

Dear all,
I recently completed my Form 12 tax return and included share dividend payment. I received the Statement of Liability from Revenue, PAYE (Income Tax) and USC was deducted from the share dividend on the balancing statement, however PRSI was not deducted at 4%.

There is no reference to PRSI deducted from my salary payments either on the Statement of Liability so I am a little concerned.

I note that this is a "PAYE/USC Statement of Liability" but my understanding is that when you file a tax return the expectation is that Revenue will deduct all taxes due.

Is this a common occurrence?

Form 12 can't apply PRSI (yet) - not sure if this is scheduled to change. Just ensure you your dividends aren't too high that it puts you into a chargeable person with the requirement to file a Form 11. PRSI is calculated on a Form 11. From memory I think you become a chargeable person if you have €5K or more of non-PAYE taxable income.
