NCD Protection
Hi folks, im a Self Employed driver , just wondering your view on this about 3 and a half years ago i had an accident the payout was about 10,000.

In fairness i didnt think the next premiumns had gone up that much even with claim, so this year the premiumn was the same price as last year 2,500 but now i can get the NCB Protection but when i asked how much he said 500 extra is that not a bit steep or is this because i had an accident,?

Would you pay the extra ?

Interested in your answers thanks

Very difficult to evaluate.

You might well get protection of your NCB from that company, but it means that if you have a claim, you can't shop around.

If you have a big claim, that might not matter.

But claiming for something small because your NCB is protected is probably a false economy.

Some years ago, I got a windscreen replaced free on my insurance as it did not affect my NCB. I was shocked to hear that other insurers considered it to be a claim.

do u think the extra 500 is a bit steep , anybody else ?

20% of your premium for NCB protection seems a lot, mine is around 10%.

Your claim was 3.5 years ago and is settled.

Have you now got 2/3 years NCB ?

Have you tried other insurers for a quote ?

Liberty for example only ask about claims in the past 3 years.

Though most insurers do ask about claims in the past five years, I thought some anyway would quote as long as your claim was settled and you now had some NCB again.

Might be worth shopping around.
