Property Tax on 2nd homes for newly weds???

Hi,

Can someone please advise me if my wife and I are liable to pay the €200 property tax?

Before we met my my wife bought a house and this was registered as her primary place of residence.

While we were going out, we bought an apartment together (both on mortage and both on deeds). This was then my primary place of residence, while her house remained her primary place of residence.

We got married this summer, and are now living together in the apartment.

Are we liable to pay the property tax this year? Are there any exemptions for newly married couples who end up "owning" two houses after getting married? (If for example the tax was due to be paid before we got married summer we wouldn't have to pay the property tax until next year.)

31 July is the "liability date" for 2009.

I'd suggest that if you moved in together after this date you've no liability for 2009.

Sounds like a very Catholic arrangement by the way...
