Get onto a couple of brokers. Most insurers will do it.

I changed to Top Insure 18 months ago. They charged about half of what my previous insurer charged.

I didn't get the alarm discount because I could not be sure that the tenants would put it on and it's not a risk I wanted to take.

It's pretty straight forward - the insurer faxes or emails over details of the policy.

Is there any company that provides rent guarantee insurance in ireland? Think its available in UK for unpaid rent for a few months until tenancy is terminated. Tbh I don't know how it would work in ireland with the way rogue tenants seem to play the system & get away with it.

Yes there was a company offering a rent guarantee insurance. I think it was called Rentassured.ie but stand corrected. I'm not sure if they're still providing insurance. They had a link on the Allsopp ( now bidx1) website but dont know if connected. The tenants had to undergo a type of credit check. The premium was reasonable at the time. The Lease had to be in writing with tenancy registered with RTB. I thought it was a good idea particularly if mortgages buy-to-let. I'm not sure if premiums could be written off against income tax?
