Property in Madeira

Hi!
This is a bit of a long shot but does anyone have any experience of buying property in Madeira, principally Funchal.
Such a beautiful island and really fancy buying a pad for my parents to live during the winter months.
Would be great to hear of any experiences.

not too many Paddies out in Funchal as flights are rare to Madeiras ....and no budget x airlines go owing to sheer distance and airplane ranges etc.

This affects all norn europe destinations vis a vis Madeira and Cabo Verde .
