Just wondering does any user of Propane have any way of checking the up to date price for Home use. There are only two providers (Calor & Flogas) and to find prices is like looking for Hen's teeth.

Any ideas out there ??

Calor are 44 cents per litre for commercial and they haven't changed all year and probably won't now although they indicated 3 months ago that they would be upping the price but that was when oil was crazy. So if anything they should reduce the price but like every other thief in this country they probably won't. I don't know how to check the prices for domestic but it won't be much more than 90 cents per litre.

Thank you Taydo. How much usage constitutes the 'Commercial' rate ???

:(o can you help me please too!! my gas is measured in units as i live in an apartment block i think they have overcharged me, 2.95 a unit is that right???

mercman you won't get a commercial rate unless you are a business 44c is less vat price. should give you a price for gas so you can see if them hoors have overcharged you cannot remeber exactly where on the site but if you have a browse you'll find it.

Tried yesterday to get the commercial rate but no go, although this property used to be a business. My usage last year was approx €6k which is quite high but even though I have an office in a separate building they wouldn't budge. The joys of having 2 suppliers with one a complete rip off. And the other, we used to be their largest customer as the usage was huge.

I doubt it. What has VAT got to do with the base price? Presently I am paying the same VAT rate as a Domestic user.

Last time I checked with Flogas they wanted just over 1 Euro per litre incl VAT to fill the tank.

At this price the effective cost per kWhr of heat to me ( I have a not very efficient boiler ) is the same as a daytime electricity heater.

Flogas are not interested in making a better offer

Its hard to see a reason why anyone would use propane to heat a domestic house

It's cheaper than that and cheaper and cleaner than Oil. Flogas are the lesser of two evils -- there are only two suppliers It all depends on your annual usage. Its either Oil or Gas - no other choice unfortunately.

Oh! How much are you paying per litre of propane ?

BTW, as well as oil and gas there is usually a third option of an electric heat pump
