Quick question - I am in line for a promotion in work (academic job but not in the university sector/ weak union). The promotion involves moving from lecturer grade to senior lecturer. The organisation I work for are attempting to introduce less favourable terms and conditions of employment for new starters (more teaching hours, less favourable time off in lieu for Saturday/ evening work). If I were to be promoted can the organisation present me with a new contract of employment whereby my terms and conditions of employment are based on the more recent changes (in my view less favourable) or can I maintain my old terms and conditions albeit at a higher senior lecturer wage?
I have an unusual clause in my existing contract which explicitly limits my teaching hours - I know the organisation would like to remove this. If I were to accept promotion could they do this?
Thanking you in advance
Susan
