Hi All........am looking to make contact with someone who is knowledgeable on how Gov Circular 8/2005 is applied in determining an award of Professional Added Years. If any experts out there please reply.......many thanks.

I applied last year. And my organisation awarded me one added year which was reduced to zero when some public sector service was taken into account.

Happy to assist if I can. Not an expert but done a lot of reading on it at the time.

That reminds me, the key first step is to ask your organistaion for the job spec and if possible job advertisement for the post that was either your first PS post, or the post that made you permanent. It might be worth getting both and pick the most advantageous one.

Then you are looking at the Minimum entry requirements for someone that would have met the minimum essential requirements of the post and the normal time it would take to get that qualification and then add on any minimum specified work experience.

Your organisation should have that on your personal file, a bit trickier if you moved organisation.

The form shared by @Irish angst was the one I used.

Did you get incremental credit upon taking up your post ? I knew of a guy who was able to retire well ahead of his time due to this pension perk , he had argues they were getting the benefit of the experience he brought to the position when they gave him his job . His starting date was in the late 1990s so he may have used a different circular .
