Is there any where or any one you can make a complaint to - we paid €1000 to have an alarm installed in our house when it was built over 2 years ago - it has never worked properly - the guy has been out so many time to fix things and hardly any of the sensors on out doors or windows work and we have had a PA Fault lock out problem now since the begining of July - he was due to call out to fix it and never showed and now is ignoring all our calls and texts - I just want to get someone in to fix it and hand him the bill - but I know he wont pay it - so is there some where I can go to make it more formal??

Yes, you should make a complaint to the certification body who certifies him. NSAI, EQA, SSAIB, MSC or who ever certifies him. You should of made a complaint when you started having the problems they will take it up with the installer.

Do you know what type alarm you have installed ?

Thanks for that - I dont even know who certifies him, we had just been trying to deal with him - have a colleague calling to see if he will tell her

Thanks again - found out that he was with PSA - apparently he doesn't fit alarms anymore! I have made a complaint to them directly.

Woah, even 2 years ago €1000 for an alarm was a lot of cash, you must have a big house or there was some gold plated window contacts!

Judging by the work he did for you he properly lost his licence to install alarms. They have to be installed to the EN50131 standard and could also be checked by the who ever certifies him to install the alarms, not the PSA, someone like the NSAI. Do you know what type system he installed ?

Depending on the type of system you could be looking at paying more than the €1000 for an alarm. Most wire free system with perimeter protection would cost this and more.
