Problems with Hotmail.

Anyone else having a problem signing in to their Hotmail.com account?

I enter my password and I am directed to a "can't access account" then they suggest sending me a code to another account. The problem is that the other account that I have registered with them if I am having a problem is also a Hotmail. account that I can't access.

This happens from time to time but usually resolves itself.....however this has been going on for days now.

I don't know how to resolve your issue, but once it's sorted you should get a non Hotmail/outlook/MS email address linked to it.

@Tintagel - I get issues from hotmail, from time to time, I have a linked account, so I get a pop up , when trying to login indicating

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Verify your email

We'll send a code to *****@hotmail.com. To verify this is your email, enter it here.

email:

Send Code / Already have a code

----------------------------------------------------------------------

but at the end of the pop up window, it has "Use Your Password"

Not sure why it just can't offer me the password screen straight away!

Husband getting this problem with Hotmail all the time and bending my ear about it. Wouldn't mind but its probably about 1 email per day

If he changes over to laptop from main computer it solves the problem.

I'm convinced all this type of stuff is to get people to move to a paid account.

I also have one Hotmail account where the "recovery" code is sent to another non hotmail account that no longer exists. This Hotmail account has been in use for 20 years or so. I don't know how to change this recovery account to another account such as gmail.

I tried to do this and they wanted to ask me certain questions such as who I sent the last 5 emails to and what was the first line in each sentence about.....It is a Hotmail account that I only use occasionally so I cannot remember my last 5 emails sent let alone what they were about.

I know my password but they no longer want to accept it.

This is the one line sentence that appears when husband tries to log in with the most iffy looking link ever saying as below 'this link'

'Please retry with a different device or other authentication method to sign in. For more details, please see this link

In light of the fact that we are all warned these days not to click on strange looking links why would any company provide something like that unless, as I mentioned above, that they want you to change to paid account for better security :(
