Problem with VW Polo

Hi, I have what i hope is a small problem. A warning light has appeared on my dash regarding the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering. Does anyone know anything about this? I have the car booked in for a diagnostic examination but the next date they could give me is Tuesday week. I'm just wondering is it safe to be driving the car until then? Any help greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that the power steering fluid needs topping up.It can be checked under the bonnet. I would be concerned about anything to do with the steering from a safety point of view so be careful.
 
Hi, There is no power steering fluid. Its electric - Electro Hyraulic Power Steering. Spent ages under the bonnet yesterday looking for where you would put the power steering fluid before the penny dropped.

The steering is getting quite heavy but not all the time. Noticed as well last night that my front lights seem to be flickering.
 
I would bet the mortgage on it being the power steering angle sensor that needs replacing.
