We had timer on for central heating but when it was supposed to go off the boiler kepts working. How do we fix this?

There are a few possibilities. Has it worked ok until now? What brand/type is it?
A quick solution is to call an electrician. Discuss the problem on the phone with him/her and agree likely pricing before they call around.

Would say 95 timee out of 100 it's not the timer, if you have zone valves in your hotpress (usually found there) it sounds as if one of them has become siezed in the open postion (ie, the little lever is loose when system should be off) or the microswitch in it has failed in the on position.

Yes, sa zone valve motor stuck in the on position would keep the boiler 'on demand' to check this, with the time clock powered off, check the little lever/paddle on the zonevalve, if it is loose (slides from side to side) with the clock 'not' calling for heat, then it may be stuck, or possibly one of your thermosats may be stuick 'on' turn them all to zero too

I have never yet come across a timeclock calling for heat when off (first time for everything though)
