Hi,
We are selling our property for 230,000 and initial quote from solicitor was for 1,400 euros. Solicitor says our original map with title deeds, we bought the house 25 years ago, had slanted boundaries, Property Registration Map and Ordanance Survey Maps are both different. Solicitors fee is now 3,000 and rising and Surveyor s fee is 800 euros. Does this sound right? And how will we know when the Folio is correct? Our buyer says bank won't let him draw down mortgage until this is sorted yet says he has mortgage approval. Any advice much appreciated. We got booking deposit beg. March for 5,000.

Maps are very key to house transfers so unfortunately your solicitor is taking the only route available. You need to see if they will give you a quote for the work remaining. The only thing is that it is often hard to give a quote. Much depends on what happens as the file progresses.
