Hi,

Can somebody tell me how long it generally takes for a grant of probate to be issued for a house inherited by a son from a mother? I'm currently purchasing the house in question, my solicitor tells me it can be done in 6 weeks but this [broken link removed] says 6 months...
 
It is possible to get a straightforward estate to grant of probate stage in 6 weeks. It usually takes longer because most estates are not= ie they have a large no of assets to be tracked down and valued and a number of beneficiaries who also have to be tracked down, the executor delays a bit, sometimes theres a waiting time with the probate office etc
