Printer speed

For some reason that I can't work out my printer is printing documents at a very slow speed , however if I'm using the photocopier it prints at a normal speed, any suggestions? It's an Canon inkjet

Which model? Is your driver/imaging software up-to-date? Colour or monochrome printing or colour printing vs. monochrome copying? What is the rated speed from the manufacturer (usually for an A4 page with 15% text coverage and the time for first page printed)?

Look up the settings, it's likely the print quality defaults are different and copies are using lower quality settings than prints.
