I have family members who work in construction and I have a construction related masters so I am not just making a sweeping comment. FYI.

Im not critising anyone's creditentials or expertise the point im making (not to well) is ,and ive read the post again, is that the question ,the way its posed makes no sense. it doesent say how many doors, frames. flooring etc thats involved, nor the size of the house. you might as well have posted . Buying a car, how much should i pay?.....i mean is it a mini or a rolls royce.
i also work/worked in construction, self employed and my day doesent start at 8am and finish at 5pm.
and theres many an architect that owes their reputation to a good foreman.
certs dont give experience, a masters is only a piece of paper.
 
i hear what your saying donee,thats why i put in a few specs on my answer.it is tough out there and it doesnt help that that a lot of people presume your screwing them if they dont know you, when your pricing a job.but all we can do is give a helping hand on this site and try and get more info too help give a correct answer.your last paragraph hits the nail on the head.
