Abbey Travel have an offer in the Sunday Times for a holiday to the above for 11 nights. I would be thinking of going at the end of August. However, the offer is only on a B&B basis and I was wondering could any of you tell me what the cost of living in relation to dining out in these cities is like, for 2? We were in Prague years ago and assume it is still fairly reasonable but I don't know about the other two cities.

Hi joanmul,

Have you guys been to those cities? Any info on cost of living (dining out etc)? KR, GT

I found all of them to be reasonable enough. No more expensive than here. WIth the city centres obviously being the most expensive. The side streets and the less touristy places being fine and some bargains. I would rate Vienna the most expensive and Budapest the cheapest.

All are cheaper than Ireland as long as you keep away from the tourist traps.

Provided you are staying in decent hotels your breakfast will be hearty so a light lunch is all you'll need as well as your evening meal.

You have to experience the cafes in Vienna. It's all part of the experience!
