I’m currently pricing around for the best price for ‘Post and 3 Rail Fencing in Black’. I need to get 314m installed with one standard 4m field gate.
So far, the prices I’ve received back range between €17/m to €25/m plus vat.
Has anyone installed post and rail fencing lately? If so, what size post did they use i.e.6ft 5x3 post and 16ft 4x2 rails and how much did it cost.

I priced 4 rail and post off 2 sawmills last week and they were coming in at aprox €8/yard so your price seems a bit high even. Google Standish Saw Mills (no connection) for details. You should be able to get someone to put it up for you cheap as well

U should also have regard to the quality of the timber. For example PDM in Kill Co. Kildare do excellent posts and rails which are all pressure treated with Cresote and will last u a lifetime. Only catch is that they are not cheap.
I have no connection with PDM.

Is Cresote not illegal to use for this now??? Also worth considering the origin of the timber - ie some people say to use Posts from Irish timber and rails from imported timber.....

5* 3 ahould be loads
I ahd 5*4 and to be honest are like railway sleepers but are a nice finish

got with 6'' rails - gives a better fill effect to the fence
does add to the price

my supplier (aughrim timber products galwa) wisely (I hope) directed me towards Larch for durability etc - am not disappointed - I beleive important to have so close to house
for you - there is a large field so finish and effect maybe not so important versus the cost
